Rita's Racewalk for the Cure
Dear Family & Friends,
Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns they have leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. I have joined Team in Training, the world's largest sports & endurance training program, in a nationwide effort to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am training to racewalk the North Trails Half-Marathon on May 18, 2003 in Dallas, Texas. If all goes well, I will racewalk a full marathon in January 2004. Along with my training, I have set an initial fundraising goal of $1,200. This money will go towards research, patient services, and education for leukemia and other blood-related cancers. With the help of good folks like you, our program raised over $73 million dollars last year! With this said, I will not only appreciate your much needed support and encouragement for my training, but also your donations (however large or small) to help in the fight for a cure. Please look over this site for more information! Thanks for visiting my website and feel free to pass the link on to your friends! With love & appreciation, Rita McFadden What you should know: Leukemia & its blood-related cancers strike some 107,900 Americans each year and kill 60,500. Leukemia is the #1 cause of death in children between the ages of 1-15. Leukemia research has been the leader for effective treatments of Hodgkin’s disease, lymphomas and other common kinds of cancers, including breast and lung cancer. |
